Riesling Wine-Tasting

A guided cultural-historical monastery tour followed by a wine-tasting of three high quality Riesling wines in the historical "Cabinetkeller" of Eberbach. (available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Swedish and Finnish)

It can be said that the Eberbach Monastery is the birthplace of the "Kabinett" wine quality category designation, which you can see today on millions of German wine bottles. The name originated from the historical "Cabinet-Keller", as the "Fraternei", that is, the former work room of the monks was called beginning in 1730.

Here, the Cistercians had set up a true treasure chamber to store the most valuable wines, which they had produced.
You can still see and feel today that this room played a very important role in the history of wine. Walled-up windows and the collection of historic wine barrels, in which the wines of famous wine domains matured long ago, combine to produce the special atmosphere of the ideal wine cellar.
In accordance with the historical tradition, following the tour, you will be able to taste here three "Kabinett" wines on the rustic, wine barrel tables and will learn things worth knowing about the triad, which has fascinated so many people in the past: Eberbach Monastery, the Riesling wine and the Rheingau.
