Like his ancestors, Philip the Elder was also buried in the Counts' Choir at Eberbach Monastery. All that remains of the once so powerful and wealthy man is this tomb monument. This is no longer the usual tomb slab with a reclining figure lying on the ground, but an epitaph that shows the deceased in an intermediate state between "lying" and "standing" and was designed to be placed on a wall.
