A Location with a View
The Steep Slopes of the Neroberg
The almost 4-hectare steep slope Wiesbadener Neroberg belongs to the Rheingau wine-growing region. Only the famous Riesling grape variety is grown here. At the slope top of the vines, the site is protected by a forest, which regulates the humidity and temperature of the vineyard, especially in summer. The deep soil is stony, grusy and also calcareous. It consists mainly of volcanic weathered rock and loess. Moisture seeps away quickly here, which is why the grapes remain healthy on the windy slope even in rainy years.
A Wine with Tradition
Wine from the Wiesbaden Neroberg
The Neroberger is a particularly fine and long-lived wine. It has intensity and concentration, yet it is not too voluminous, but harmonious and animating. The secret of its taste lies in particular in the sunny and windy location. The very healthy Riesling grapes are gently processed in the Steinberg cellar. The wine matures there in traditional piece barrels made of German oak.
The 1893 Neroberger Riesling Cabinet Trockenbeerenauslese fetched DM 35,000 at the wine auction in Kloster Eberbach in 1986 - the highest price ever achieved by a wine from our treasury.
