Charity Wine

For the good cause

Social commitment has been a tradition at Kloster Eberbach for nine centuries. Since 2001, the Kloster Eberbach winery has been supporting regional, non-profit or charitable organisations with the proceeds from its charity wines, which now total 109,468 euros. 100% of the proceeds are donated to a good cause. We are upholding this tradition and will continue to donate a unique wine from our treasury in 2024.

1964 BENEFIZWEIN - UNIKAT Assmannshäuser Höllenberg Frühburgunder Natur

After a long, cold and dry winter, vine growth developed rapidly in 1964 following a warm spring and very warm summer, so that ripening began early around 10 August. The continued warm and moderately humid weather in autumn ensured an above-average harvest in terms of both quality and quantity.

"Dark garnet red colour. Expressive nose with a pronounced smoky character, dark chocolate, very typical of the Höllenberg vineyard, the fruit is reminiscent of freshly crushed blackcurrants and cherry jam.

Elegant spiciness on the palate, a hint of cardamom, still juicy fruit, red berries and hints of blackcurrants. Very elegant and velvety character with excellent length and depth. A truly great wine."

RHEINGAUER JUGEND FÜR AFRIKA E.V.

"Education for a better future"

This is the theme under which the Rheingauer Jugend für Afrika e.V. has been working in the Rheingau and Kenya for 10 years now to support young people in their personal development and education.
The centrepiece of the work is a trip to Kenya, which is carried out every two years with a group of young people from the Rheingau. The young people earn the money for the trip themselves and prepare intensively for about 1.5 years.

During the trip, the young people get to know the country's treasures and culture a little and socialise with many people. They also spend about a week living and working at one of the Kenyan partner schools of the Kikunduku Schools Project, renovating classrooms, building school furniture and exchanging ideas with the pupils in workshops and discussions on various topics. In the process, the young people from both countries change their view of the world and their own realities of life, tackle global issues such as climate change, sustainability and corruption and develop personally.
