Rauenthal Domain – Kloster Eberbach

The development of the domain

Between the rows of vines in the famous Baiken, the estate of the Rauenthal domain was established in 1928. In the fifties, the estate was extended to its present size. At that time, the Prussian state acquired around 20 hectares of vineyards and expanded them to almost 50 hectares under the then domain management of Jacob Diefenhardt. The vineyards of the Rauenthal domain were the most valuable vineyards owned by the Prussians at that time.

In terms of irrigation and education in viticulture, as well as with modern technology in the vineyard, the Rauenthal domain continued to develop. Today, it is one of the most modern businesses in Germany and is also home to the "Baiken Wine Store".

Pleasure in the middle of the vineyards

The location alone is worth a visit: surrounded by vines, with a view of the vineyards and Eltville. The terrace - partly covered - offers a magnificent view of the Rhine valley and its vines! From the kitchen come, for example, "roast breast and braised leg of country chicken, baked white asparagus, tarragon gnocchi, white tomato sauce".

Assmannshäuser Im Höllenberg Spätburgunder

VDP.ERSTE LAGE®

“Höllenberg” is derived from the Old High German word “helda” (meaning “steep slope”). This plot, “Im Höllenberg,” is the original plot of Höllenberg, which gave the entire vineyard its name. The plots are located in the valley facing away from the Rhine, with a pure south-facing orientation.
